'Joy of Cooking' must-trys

I recently got a copy of "Joy of Cooking" - I believe it is the 75th anniversary edition. I flipped through it, and basically want to make everything. Right now. All at once.

But before I do that, I thought I would see if anyone had any must-trys from the book.

And any tips in general would be great - are there any recipes that just never come out well, or multiple recipes that go particularly well together?
