Help! New to Food in Europe and need Advice
Hi all! In brief, I am a student from Singapore, about to study in England and am now in Vienna on a trip that will take me to Krakow, Budapest and Prague. One of my favourite activities, strange as it sounds, is to wander aimlessly around the local supermarkets and markets and so my itinerary is generally focused on markets like Naschmarkt and the Central Market Hall. Being the first time I am in Europe, I am awed by the array of cheeses, cured meats, pickles, chocolates and alcohol that will easily cost a bomb back home. My student accommodation is self-catered so I've got half a mind to spend a bomb on everything and cart them back but I have no idea about regional specialities and differences because most websites only discuss specialities like hungarian paprika and don't go into stuff like groceries and sundries. So PLEASE advise me, are there things I should get or are these generally all affordable in London, as cosmopolitan as it is? I don't want to shell out Euros on cheese in Vienna only to realise its cheaper in Budapest or in London. Help a fellow serious eater, and thanks so much in advance!
