Serious Eats: Talk
Il Mulino Upper East New York
You are hassled the minute you walk in, like you are on an assembly belt, with waiters trying to shove food on to your table, urging you to move on with the order, eat and leave. This on a day where there were at least 4 empty tables at about 8.30 pm on a Tuesday when it had snowed. Food was mediocre at best. However the most disappointing event came at the end when for a$210 bill I gave $240 and in five minutes another wait returned claiming I had given $180 only. I said I knew how much I had on me so couldn't have made a mistake. He disagreed. I paid by credit card, leaving no additional tip as In my mind a $60 tip was more than enough for a $210 bill. Unlikely to return again. Those offering cash are warned.
