Where Did Belgian Endive Disappear To?
While I didn't buy it often, I did enjoy it once in awhile, & it just occurred to me that I probably haven't seen it in any supermarket for almost a decade now.
Each pristine blanched little head used to be wrapped in deep blue paper in the lettuce area of the produce department.
Can't remember the last time I've seen it. Anyone know why it disappeared? Although now that I think of it, I haven't seen much frilly chicory or flat-leaf escarole much either lately. I thought "bitter" greens were somewhat in vogue these days.
